PRIDE HOUSE LA-WEST HOLLYWOOD DURING 2024 OLYMPICS
A Los Angeles-area delegation for 2028 celebrates the Pride House movement in Paris.
LOS ANGELES, July 29, 2024 – Out Athlete Fund, the organizer for the 2028 Pride House in Los Angeles-West Hollywood, is being welcomed at the Olympics by Pride House Paris on August 9 at 6pm. A reception for the California delegation is free and open to the public.
Pride House Paris, with representatives of the City of Paris, welcomes attendees from the Los Angeles area including: West Hollywood Mayor John Erickson, along with his team from the City of West Hollywood; Los Angeles County Supervisors, including Supervisor Lindsay Horvath; Organizers from Pride House LA-West Hollywood. Various out LGBTQ+ Olympians are also expected to join the reception.
“The work we have done at Pride House Paris to elevate the LGBTQ+ community in sports is unparalleled with support from the French Ministry of Sports, the French Ministry for Equality, the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee and, for a first in Pride House history, the International Olympic Committee,” said Fier Play co-presidents Frédérique Vidal & Jérémy Goupille. “We look forward to elevating the Pride House tradition to a community of support in California to continue this important movement.”
Out Athlete Fund, including its signature Pride House LA-West Hollywood project, aims to continue the important work on the international sports stage, laid out by Pride Houses including the latest installation in Paris.
“Our mission is to promote visibility and empowerment of LGBTQ+ people at the world’s most important sporting events,” said Alex Soejarto, President, Out Athlete Fund. “For LGBTQ+ athletic representation nothing beats the Olympics’ spirit. For the 2028 Olympics, our vision is to build a vibrant community that’s bigger than just Los Angeles and West Hollywood.”
EVENT DETAILS
The kickoff event will take place at Pride House,\ Paris, Rosa Bonheur sur Seine, Port des Invalides, Quai d'Orsay, on Friday, August 9, at 18:00 local time. The event is designed to enhance efforts of the global movement to elevate voices of LGBTQ+ athletes, allies and fans. Admission is free and open to the public.
Pride House Paris is open 12:00 to 17:00 every day for competition viewing, and 17:00 to 01:30 for evening events and celebrations. Visit the website for a schedule.
