OUR STORY
The first Pride House took place at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, when a number of local advocates wanted to elevate LGBTQ visibility at the Games and ensure a safe place for LGBTQ athletes and fans to experience the Vancouver Olympics.
There has been a Pride House at every Olympics (outside of Russia and China) since, as well as many other major sporting events, carrying on those goals of visibility and inclusion.
Pride House Los Angeles - West Hollywood came about when longtime Gay Games board member Les Johnson joined Alex Soejarto as founding members of the Out Athlete Fund board. Johnson had loosely worked with Pride House International, and he had the vision of Out Athlete Fund presenting Pride House at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, in addition to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
They invited longtime Los Angeles and West Hollywood resident Cyd Zeigler to join as well, and the three of them set out to forge a path that will result in the largest LGBTQ event the world has ever seen.
Since then, some amazing people have joined the team, including Pride House Los Angeles - West Hollywood CEO Michael Ferrera, who has a long history of LGBTQ organization and major events in the area.
The event has attracted the interest of incredible organizations that will help bring it to life, including the City of West Hollywood, the County of Los Angeles and the State of California.
Plus athletes have joined the effort including former NBA player Jason Collins and Paralympic champion Stephanie Wheeler, as well as Olympians like Randy Gardner, Nicole Branagh, Matthew Mitcham, Robert Dover and Ian Thorpe.
The momentum is building for Pride House Los Angeles - West Hollywood!
