Jake Adicoff

Jake Adicoff is a U.S. Paralympic cross-country skier born in San Jose, California, and raised in Sun Valley, Idaho. He is the youngest of three children of Sam and Sue Adicoff. After contracting chickenpox in utero, Jake was born with scarring to both maculae, resulting in blindness in his right eye and limited vision in his left.

Jake began cross-country skiing at age seven through the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s development program. What started as an after-school activity, motivated as much by friendships as the promise of a post-practice Sour Patch Kid, soon became a lifelong pursuit.

Throughout high school, Jake competed in non-disabled racing before entering para competition during a post-graduate year. That same year, he qualified for his first Paralympic Winter Games, making his debut at Sochi 2014. While attending Bowdoin College, Jake balanced para racing with U.S. Paralympics Nordic Skiing with NCAA competition for Bowdoin’s ski team from 2015 to 2018.

Jake earned his first Paralympic medal at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, winning silver in the 10-kilometer classic event. Following graduation, he stepped away from competitive skiing for three years to pursue a career in the tech industry in San Francisco. After returning home during the COVID-19 pandemic and reconnecting with the place where he first learned to ski, Jake decided to resume elite training in 2021.

His return culminated in a standout performance at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, where he won three medals, including a gold medal in the team relay, one of the most meaningful moments of his athletic career.

Most recently at the Milan Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games, he won 4 gold medals in every event he competed in: gold (10km Classic Style - Visually Impaired - Men, 1km Sprint Classic Style - Visually Impaired - Men, 20km Freestyle - Visually Impaired - Men, 4 x 2.5km Relay Mixed - Mixed), capping off a perfect Games.

Outside of sport, he is an avid coffee enthusiast on a lifelong quest for the perfect espresso, an enthusiastic home cook for friends, and a dedicated reader with a particular love for queer fiction.
